About
Shai Wetzer is a professional drummer and percussionist based in Brooklyn. Born and raised in Israel, he started playing at the age of twelve in classical orchestras and went on to graduate from Berklee College of Music in Boston.
Shai has performed and recorded with a wide range of musical artists across multiple genres, including the legendary Israeli pop-rock band Kaveret and several of its members. He has performed in Europe, South Africa, South America, Canada, Israel, and the United States. He is known for his dynamic and versatile playing style that seamlessly blends different musical traditions and styles.
In addition to playing gigs with various musicians and groups, Shai is currently producing, composing, and playing on a new project on his label, Lahit. He will be the drummer for the World Premiere of "When Elvis Met the Beatles" at Ogunquit Playhouse late summer 2025. Shai has also been a judge for the John Lennon Songwriting Contest since 2017.
